Learning the Spacebar
The spacebar is struck with either thumb, whichever is more natural for you. This lesson mixes it with the home row keys you've already learned. The suggested finger assignment is a guide for standard QWERTY practice; the page cannot verify which finger you use.
The drill repeats a small set of characters so you can focus on placement. Copy spaces and line breaks exactly. After a comfortable attempt, try the hand or beginner lessons to combine the movement with other keys.
Practice focus
Separate words with one deliberate thumb press.
- Read each home-row word group before beginning it.
- Use one space between groups and release the bar before the next character. Do not add a space after the final group.
Review your attempt
If a space is missing, notice the transition from the last letter to the next group; practicing Space alone will not test that transition.
