Learning the Enter Key
The Enter key is struck with your right pinky, reaching away from the home row. This lesson has you press it at the end of every short line. The suggested finger assignment is a guide for standard QWERTY practice; the page cannot verify which finger you use.
The drill repeats a small set of characters so you can focus on placement. Copy spaces and line breaks exactly. After a comfortable attempt, try the hand or beginner lessons to combine the movement with other keys.
Practice focus
Turn a displayed line break into a single Enter press.
- Copy the first line, then press Enter once to move to the next displayed line.
- Return to the right-hand starting position after Enter. Use spaces only where shown; Tab changes focus in this exercise.
Review your attempt
An extra Enter is a character error. If the first letter of each new line is wrong, inspect the movement back from Enter.
