Typing Pace Trainer

Most typing tools measure your top speed. This one trains a specific speed. Pick a target WPM, ideally a little above your current comfortable pace, and type against a bar that moves at exactly that rate. Staying just ahead of it means you're above target; falling behind means you're below it.

This matters because rushing to a personal best and holding a steady, sustainable pace are different skills. Job typing tests, transcription, and long writing sessions all reward the second one. Practicing against a fixed pace, rather than racing your own top speed, builds the rhythm that steady typing depends on.

How to use the pace bars

The gray bar advances at your chosen target WPM from the moment you start typing. The colored bar advances with your actual position in the passage. If your bar leads the gray one, you're typing faster than target; if it trails, you're typing slower. The "Vs. Target" stat gives the same comparison as a live number.

Start with a target close to your current average from the typing test, then raise it by five or ten WPM once you can hold it comfortably for a full passage. Pushing the target too far above your current speed usually breaks accuracy instead of building real pace.
