10-Key Typing Test & Number Pad Practice
Ten-key speed is measured differently from regular typing. Instead of words per minute, data-entry and accounting roles use keystrokes per hour (KPH), since numeric entry is dominated by digits rather than words, and a single misplaced digit in an invoice or ledger matters far more than a typo in a sentence you can reread for sense. Requirements vary by employer and test format. Check the actual assessment instructions rather than assuming that a particular KPH score meets every job requirement.
Touch typing on a number pad relies on a much smaller home position than the main keyboard: your fingers rest on 4, 5, and 6, with your thumb near 0, and every other digit is a short reach away without looking down. Use a comfortable attempt to notice the reaches that interrupt your sequence, then repeat with attention to those digits.
This drill generates realistic numeric strings, including some with decimals to mimic dollar amounts, so you're practicing the kind of entry you'll actually do on the job rather than an arbitrary string of digits. Your KPH and accuracy update live as you type, and results are saved locally so you can track improvement over time.

Reading your KPH score
KPH projects your entry pace over an hour; this exercise does not require an hour of typing. Short runs can fluctuate, so repeat similar drills and compare accuracy alongside speed. A result on the number row does not demonstrate touch typing on a numeric keypad. Use the same input method when tracking improvement.
Build a numeric data-entry practice routine
Use the raised mark on the 5 key to find your starting position. Read each group through its decimal point before typing it. Finish a careful run first, then repeat at a slightly quicker pace if you can keep the digits and separators accurate. This tool also accepts the number row, but cannot verify which physical keys you use.
Try the timed data-entry simulator to combine names, emails, dates, codes, and amounts in a form. Add alphanumeric data entry lessons for slower practice, or accounting typing lessons for financial vocabulary. A practice score is not an employer-verified certificate.
