camelCase & snake_case Typing Practice

Part of the Programmers track.

The two dominant variable-naming conventions, practiced back to back so your fingers get comfortable with both capitalization and underscore styles.

Type the drill below at a pace where you can stay accurate. Reaching the lesson target shown below marks this lesson complete and shows a link to the next lesson in the track.

This is lesson 2 of 8 in the Programmers track. Your attempts, best WPM, and completion status are saved in this browser when local storage is available.

Type spaces for indentation and Enter for line breaks; Tab moves focus. For varied snippets, open the code typing tool. To plan a session, read the code typing practice routine.

Practice focus

Switch between internal capitals and underscore separators.

  1. Read myVariableName and my_variable_name as two different sequences.
  2. Release Shift after an internal capital; use it deliberately for the all-capital constants at the end.

Review your attempt

If only the underscored version breaks your rhythm, isolate the letter-underscore-letter transition.
